Learn about London by Watching Classic British Movies

Hall Of Travel

London is a city that anyone from any English-speaking part of the world needs to visit eventually. London has had a profound affect on the history and culture of people from all over the world, but it’s not just about history either. London is also a modern capital of art, music, fashion, literature, and even television. It’s a great place to visit for people of all ages and a great first introduction to Europe, as the language and culture are readily understandable for North Americans.

Hotels in London vary from the established luxury hotel to the super-trendy boutique hotel to the budget-friendly hole in the wall that’s mostly just a place to rest your head. Whatever your preference is, make sure your hotel is well-located near an Underground Station and if budget is a concern, consider whether or not breakfast is offered (a common amenity in London) when you’re trying to compare prices of different hotels.

Europe airline tickets are expensive due to the current exchange rate, but it is possible to find bargains on plane tickets, especially if you’re going to London. More airlines fly there than almost anywhere else in the world, and with two major airports to choose between (Heathrow or Gatwick), there are a lot of bargains available, especially during the off season, which spans from November to March.

If you’re preparing to visit London, get in the mood by watching some classic British movies or television shows. Some of the latter that shouldn’t be missed are Absolutely Fabulous, the original version of What Not To Wear, the British version of The Office, 70’s classic comedies Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, and Benny Hill, and the 80’s sci fi hit, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Any of these will put you in the right frame of mind to enjoy your trip to London.
