Intelius: Six Years of Caring for the Community

Making Money

The Stevie Award-winning Intelius Inc., a premier provider of information and protection services and one of the 500 fastest growing companies in North America, has protected not only its reputation as a market leader but its commitment to performing its social obligations.

Aside from putting emphasis on customer services by coming up with better and more efficient tools and technologies to cater significantly to the needs of its ever growing 6 million customer base, Intelius also emphasizes the need to care for the community. It has, time and again, leveled its commitment to entrepreneurial excellence with that of philanthropic work.

Founded in January 2003 by its Chief Executive Officer, Naveen Jain, an engineer and philanthropist, Intelius has put charitable giving on top of its priority. It formulated philanthropy programs within the company to encourage its 191 employees and executives to give donations or to work volunteer hours and render services to charities within the Seattle area.

Even amidst the difficulty experienced by corporations all over the US because of the global financial distress, Intellius’ philanthropic efforts did not dwindle. The company recently reported that for the year 2008, it made over $210,000 in corporate donations. In recognition of six years in philanthropic contributions, the Puget Sound Business Journal named the firm as one of the Top 15 Corporate Philanthropists in the Puget Sound area.

Intellius contributes to various nonprofit organizations such as Hopelink, a community action agency that focuses on hunger mitigation; Overlake Service League, a social action center that provides self-sufficiency programs; Bellevue Boys and Girls Club, a child welfare organization, Kindering Center, TreeHouse, and Bellevue School Foundation, among others. It also funded a $170,000 endowment fund for undergraduates at the University of Washington. It also made donations to the international non-profit organization United Way which funnels all corporate donations to healthcare and basic needs advocacy.
