The Goat House Offer B&B in Laxton Nottinghamshire

A Life Of Leisure, Hall Of Travel

Laxton is a small rural village in the midlands, dating from the Norman Conquest of 1066.

These days visitors can go to the castle site at the northern edge of the village, and witness the regions best preserved motte and bailey castle.

You can also view the beautiful, and pleasant, Church of St Michael the Archangel which dates back to early 12th century and is still regularly used.

Even so, what makes the village of Laxton truly singular is its usage of the medieval farming system.

This is the last working open field system in England and one can walk the village by yourself or have a tour with a local, which we will happily arrange if you so wish.

There is a visitor’s cente int he centre of the village with lots more information about Laxton.

In the centre of the village is the Dovecote Inn where one can discover superb value, locally sourced food and real ales, and agreeable locals who will merrily tell you a tale or two.

The Goat House at Ivy Cottage is int he centre of the village and goes back over 200 years.

The Goathouse has just recently been renovated to a high level, we offer fantastic value accommodation with one double bedroom, a twin bedroom and one family bathroom.
