A Life in Invention — Nicholas Bredimus

Raised from birth in New Jersey, Nicholas Bredimus studied the spheres of airlines, software, and hospitality and revolutionized all three industries. His career highlights include effort-saving computer programs, airplane safety advancements, and even the design of luxury homes. Bredimus brings real energy to all these areas, too. His heritage tells you everything you ought to know about his abilities and how much he has achieved. With roots as far back as the glory days of Rome and in fact Nicholas’ lineage ties in with much of Europe. Following the maternal branch, say, he can boast German and Scottish lines. A similarly varied mix stands out in his father’s side — ahead of coming to America in the late nineteenth century, Bredimus’ antecedents dwelt in Luxembourg and England.

And after arrival in America, they maintained their drive and resolve to go up in the world. Nicholas, who would grow up with his sisters and brothers, was a child of a father employed as a mechanical design engineer and his wife, a nurse. He would spend for many years in cities across several states.

Nicholas has taken on prominent jobs for firms throughout the air travel sector — most of them highly distinguished names. These included the role of Vice President for Trans World Airlines (TWA), Hughes Airwest, and Republic Airlines. Most celebrated, however, was his achievement as an inventive software designer working with the airlines. He is easily most famous for the aircraft maintenance management software he invented for US Airways, destined to become the “old reliable” for the task. And yet this was just one of his memorable products for the hotel business and for airlines. His reservation software is on its way to joining the aforementioned program as a standard, while his hotel booking program made it possible for many hotels to shift to the first pc client based technology. Pushing further into a third territory, he designed a networking program to help with ticket sales — once again making come about an innovation no one else had achieved before.

Nicholas Bredimus has also served in a number of posts entirely outside of software design, let’s remember. In his own company, as a divisional manager with American Express, and as the first president of an American Airlines division his career speaks for itself.
