Hall Of Technology, Lots Of Web Resources

The SQL Server 2008 R2 which is currently available in the Community Technology Preview version will become available in May 2010. This is according to a statement released by Microsoft through its company blog.
Since the release of the CTP version, the SQL Server 2008 R2 has already been downloaded over 150,000 times, says the announcement. It added that the platform is going to be listed on Microsoft’s current pricelist with availability set in May and offering a number of additional benefits that the previous releases didn’t have.
The new SQL Server 2008 R2 is designed to introduce clients to the StreamInsight and Master Data Services technologies. Master Data Services allows clients to securely manage their master data to maintain the integrity of information. It provides a scalable, trusted and highly available platform that can support data consistency across a heterogeneous system. This product allows organizations to make sense of streaming information as soon as it comes in as well as support high scale apps and private cloud servers.
A lot of businesses have already benefited from the new platform. According to Fabio Catassi, chief technology officer for Mediterranean Shipping Company, the SQL Server 2008 R2 has allowed his organization to free up the IT department, allowing it to focus on bigger and tougher challenges while still maintaining control over valuable information. The new server also features efficiency as it offers central management capabilities for multiple database applications.
