Windows Registry is an important file on your windows operating system and it contains a lot of information about your PC. E.g. where are software installed, which DLL files are shared among the installed sofware, short cuts in you Windows start menu and on your desktop.

Everything you do while using Windows ends up in the Windows Registry. That could be the location of the latest files used (documents, spread sheets, images, videos etc.). You will also find data about the applications installed and uninstalled.

There are plenty of explanations why a PC gets slower as it gets older.

Help you PC to get fast again, using a professional tool.

A professional tool usually works like this:

  • The tool scans you PC and detects the errors on you Windows operating system (e.g. Windows XP, Vista and 7).
  • Reparing the errors
  • Eventually your computer is faster, it will also boot faster because it no loger has any registry errors.

Sometimes it is not your Windows Registry that you can blame for your slow laptop.

Sometimes anti-virus programs causes your PC to be slow due to bad configuration

Add to that your anti virus software may be set to scan both your local harddrives and all network drives.

Regular scans of your network drives takes a lot of your CPU time, the reason is that network drives are much slower than local harddrives

Beware that normally there is only a minor risk involved if you set your anti virus program to disable analysis of your network drives.

3 Begins to Manage Usage in Heavy Load Areas

Caveat Emptor, Hall Of Technology, Hall Of Telecommunication

Mobile broadband provider 3 has brought out some new initiatives to manage the heavy use and congestion in networks during peak times and ensure better internet experience for its customers.

Market gurus have predicted a huge explosion in the mobile broadband customer base in future years. In fact, some experts predict exponential growth in the industry. There are real fears among analysts that the current technology will not be able to keep pace with the growth in demand. It is evident even now, as providers are facing difficulties in addressing the customer demand fully.

In order to ensure that heavy users do not hog the bandwidth, providers are thinking of ways by which equitable distribution of existing services can be ensured. Toeing this line of thought, 3 has come up with network management systems which will restrict certain types of traffic so that customers streaming videos or using heavy peer-to-peer applications will have access to slower speeds, even as other subscribers continue to enjoy good speeds without fail.

3 explained that this would only ensure fair distribution of bandwidth among customers. It also assured that only heavily congested locations would be managed thus, and so only a very small section of users would have to face slow speeds.

There are already some differential payment options in place, by which customers can choose fast speed connections that are more expensive than slower ones. Mobile broadband providers would rather guide their customers to new pricing models, which would mean not only putting in place data traffic management systems but also a no- compromise policy on profits.

For those considering mobile broadband, if you choose to opt for mobile broadband with free laptop and look through Mobile Broadband Genie, you’ll be given all the information you need about the performance of each supplier on their easy to use comparison table to help you choose the best mobile broadband deal for you.

TalkTalk Unhappy about Broadband Technical Support Cost Survey Results

Caveat Emptor, Hall Of Technology, Hall Of Telecommunication

Consumer website uSwitch has recently released its results of a survey conducted to find out the average cost on broadband technical support system. The survey results show that broadband customers spend millions on phone calls while soliciting technical support. The money is spent due to the waiting time of each call, which is an average of £1.75 per call.

Among the three service providers namely Orange, Tiscali and TalkTalk, the waiting time per call was found to be highest in case of TalkTalk, which was twelve minutes, although in the context of customer satisfaction, Orange Broadband and Tiscali Broadband were ranked at the bottom.

The survey has also revealed the fact that overall service in case of technical support calls is poor. Out of six million customers, only four in ten are able to get their problems solved by the calls.

TalkTalk has disputed the claims made by this survey and has cited its own records to prove that the results of this survey should not be taken seriously. The company claims that the study is most probably based on earlier data collected sometime in February 2009, when the average time spent on hold in each call was taken into account.

According to the in-house data provided by the company, the average time spent on hold by TalkTalk customers is much lower i.e. 53 seconds per call. These figures are for the month of September 2009. This data proves that the results of the survey conducted by uSwitch are yet to pass the test of reliability.

Building Your Own Web Site

Hall Of Technology, Misc

The initial project when you are building a Web site and robust Internet presence is deciding on the most suitable domain and using the best suited registration for your unique requirements. All the same, this is not normally an uncomplicated decision making process. All things considered the most dependable method of making sure that all your needs are fulfilled is to spend a few hours on some thorough research of domain hosting suppliers by reading some reviews.

Reviews of domain hosting are definitely helpful but how do you find out what it is you are searching for? Well, as with all good business decisions, you should discover which points are most important for you. One choice is to host your Web site with the same company that you register your domain with. Do bear in mind, however, that even after your Web site has been launched, matters such as support will probably become more significant than ever.

Be sure not to rely on a review only published in a company’s advertising. In order to determine the best suited web registration for you, you must always find an impartial evaluation. You should make the time to read as much client feedback as is feasible bearing in mind what each customer has to say. Just what are the common problems, if any? What are the company’s weaknesses? Do good reviews outbalance the bad?

Expect to discover positive and negative customer reviews for all the providers. Remain objective and study any info you can get access to. Of course, the cost must be looked at, but see to it you have everything you may want included in your agreement. We have provided some questions to ponder over when choosing which provider to go with.

Please surf to this one of a kind webpage for domain registration sites review instructions…

During which hours do the company offer customer support? Do they offer a free number, and can you determine from the review Web site if they have got an acceptable turnaround time? How much bandwidth would you be good for? Some businesses offer unlimited domain hosting and bandwidth as part of a bundle, on occasion they also include extras such as software to run your Web site, vouchers good for Google Adwords, and rebates on further domain names. How is the payment scheme implemented? Are all payments automatic, and are weekly payments accepted? What sort of support is provided in the case of a server failure? Your responses to these questions are vital to your Web site. Only you will decide which is the best hosting for the requirements of your Web site, but do what makes sense: don’t be sloppy as regards your fact finding efforts, so be sure you cross your t’s. Checking out those pertinent reviews gives you the chance to save time and effort further down the road.

Whats the Big Deal with VoIP?

Hall Of Technology, Hall Of Telecommunication

Technology executives are betting that consumers will soon change how they make phone calls reducing the need for a phone line from a traditional provider. VoIP essentially turns telephone calls into just another piece of software running over an IP network, and due to this simplicity the future for VoIP seems promising.

Ever since Skype introduced software for voice calls on computers the industry has been buzzing. Google has entered the internet telephony market with an instant chat and voice app and is testing a Wi-Fi consumer service that has the potential to deliver data to wireless devices.

The technology companies are already starting to sell double purpose products such as cameras which appear standard but when a person slides the back of the device down, it reveals a full keyboard. Memory sticks that store from 64 megabytes to 1 gigabyte preloaded with a softphone are also now available. They come with a microphone and earphones.

Companies such as Google, Yahoo, and EarthLink have already played around with such technology. Last winter Yahoo added improved Voice over IP calling to its Yahoo Messenger. Google has also released Google Talk. AOL has told the world it would be providing a VoIP service called TotalTalk. AOL’s TotalTalk will essentially let people replace their traditional landlines. It has advanced communication features, such as unified voice, e-mail and instant messaging, and call-management.

Its probably accurate to say the phone companies will face a challenge with these momentous changes coming to the fore with VoIP technology.
