A Palazzo Busdraghi, with its striking, period elegance, is a new 4-star hotel in Lucca, created from an old town house of the same name in Via Fillungo, the main street in the historic centre of the town. We call it a Residenza d’Epoca. It has seven bedrooms, all luxurious and carefully designed. Each one has a different shape, is decorated with rich fabrics in a different colour and furnished with fine antiques, such as the wardrobe that belonged to Giacomo Puccini. Creating the right atmosphere and attention to detail make Palazzo Busdraghi the ideal place to stay when you come to visit historic Lucca.
A special experience for everyone.
The hallmark of the A Palazzo Busdraghi town house hotel Lucca is the care it gives to the services it offers to its guests:
Bedrooms:
There are seven bedrooms, all different in shape, colour and furnishings. Fine antiques are combined with modern fittings and all rooms in our Lucca Hotel are soundproofed and air-conditioned and have a minibar, safe, two telephones (in the bedroom and bathroom) and plasma satellite TV, and bathrooms furnished with jacuzzi bath or jacuzzi shower/sauna.
At the period residence A Palazzo Busdraghi breakfast is one of the most important moment during the day; we like to offer our guests local and fresh products to have the opportunity to appreciate the tradition of the past.
. We will be happy to see to all your wishes and requirements.
Palazzo Busdraghi dates back to the 16th century and has an irregular rectangular shape with a complex distribution of internal space that derives from earlier medieval buildings. It is bounded on three sides by Via Fillungo, Via Busdraghi and Via del Portico, and the entrance to the courtyard from Via Fillungo is through a 16th-century covered loggia with a beautiful portal with Doric columns in the Civitali style.
The Company of the Cross, whose role was to assist people who were condemned to death and to give hospitality to pilgrims, was one of the last dimore of the family.
In our Lucca Hotel, there is also a large beautiful garden behind the long wall on Via Busdraghi. This name as well as the property became the family’s through the marriage of Anna di Michele Bartolomei to Giuseppe Francesco Busdraghi in 1701. The faade in Via Fillungo dates from 1500 and has a wood-panelled door and family crests set into an old fanlight, with columns on the outside and in the courtyard in the style of noted artists in Lucca in the 16th century. Jacopo di Piero Busdraghi was already living in the area in 1340, renting a property described as extra portam in the San Pietro Somaldi district, while the family’s principal house was the one owned by Giuseppe Francesco in Via San Giorgio which he sold, with the consent of the General Council, to Lelio Ottorini who later sold it to the marquises Meuron. They also owned a “beautiful villa with an olive grove” in Pozzuolo (then called Quilici).

Halloween is considered to be one of the most celebrated holidays in America. If you are going to the United States at the end of October you surely shouldn’t miss this event! Every state, every city, every small town has its own parades, festivals and parties dedicated to Halloween! Halloween’s origin lies deep in centuries. According to some opinions its history began in 17th century as Celtic harvest holiday called Samhain, meaning Summer’s End. Now Halloween is closely connected to the celebration of the Catholic feast of All Saints’ Day which is celebrated on the first of November. New York - the biggest USA city has one of the greatest Halloween parades. It takes place at 19.00 on 31st October. Many visitors from all over the country come to see and participate. People in strange and scary costumes are invited to a parade coming along Sixth Avenue from Spring to 21st St! It’s the only night-time parade in the whole country! Here guests can expect 42 bands of different musical styles, thousands of participants and a lot of fun! On 29th October other nine Halloween parties took place throughout the New York City. These parties included free activities for kids to enjoy, with haunted houses, hayrides, storytelling, and costume parades. Starbucks’ Great Halloween Party in Central Park was the main event of the day with live music, puppet shows, face painting and much more. Each of the 5 New York City districts had its own Halloween party too - Bronx inhabitants were invited to Van Cortlandt Park and St. Mary’s Recreation Center: those who live in Brooklyn - to Brownsville Recreation Center on Linden Boulevard between Christopher Street & Hegeman Street. Manhattan’s show was on Pelham Fritz. Queens had Playground for All Children on Corona Avenue. Visitors and residents of Staten Island could have enjoyed a performance on South Beach Roller Rink. So coming to New York on Halloween is a good chance to get acquainted with one of the oldest and most original American tradition.

Checking accessories that you need in traveling
So, finally you have found the time for your deserving break.
You have already planned what to do on the big trip. Everything
seems to be prepared. But what happens when you forget your
favorite digicam and you only discovered it when you’re already
nearing the point of your destination?
Why does it happen that every time you go out of town, you
always forget an item or accessory that you only remember after
you left the house? If you are lucky, you usually forget small
things like a toothbrush, where you can buy one in the nearest
store.
But what happens if you forget, for example, your digicam? Or
how about your raincoat in a rainy season? How about the travel
supplies you usually forget? If you’re lucky, it’s a simple
accessory like a toothbrush, which any hotel will have in their
gift shop. But what if you forgot a more important product, for
example, a rain coat? Or a backpack you’ll be using for a hiking
trip?
What are all the travel accessories you need?
When going on trips, whether it is big or small, check out if
you have a complete set of your travel accessories. What
accessories should I bring? Among the most obvious are:
- Suitcases
- Travel clothing
- Toiletries
-Travel appliances (electric razor, travel alarm, hairdryer)
These, however, are just the basic accessories. You will see
that the more you travel, the more you need things other than
suitcases, toiletries, and travel clothing and appliances. For
example, did you think that you should have brought a small nice
neck pillow in a long train ride or flight? Or, what if you get
bruised from a hiking trip, do you have a first-aid kit close at
hand?
Here are some accessories that you might want to bring when you
take your next trip:
- Binoculars
- Music player
- Mini-flashlight
- Camera
- Clothing steamer
- Mini-umbrella
- Luggage rack
- Door alarm
- First-aid kit
It would not be surprising that you might have additional
options to this list, or you might have a list entirely
different from the list above. And when you check out stores and
Internet sites that sell travel accessories, you would learn
that there are many products out there that you thought you
never needed but turned out to be the contrary!

I am firmly convinced the country of India was transplanted from
another planet. You will find no other place like it on this
world.
India
India is a country where you will see everything you can
imagine. More importantly, everything you will see will be
intense. You will not see a beggar, you will see millions of
them. You will not see a beautiful beach, you will see the most
beautiful beaches in the world. Places of wealth are so over the
top you’ll be stunned. The shanty towns of the poor, on the
other hand, will set you back on your heals.
India is the one place you can visit and come away completely
enthralled and disgusted at the same time. If your idea of
traveling is sitting in a posh hotel, India has such resorts but
you’ll be unable to avoid the less attractive areas. If you
prefer to get out and take in a culture that is completely alien
to your own, you will never find a better place than India.
India is really a number of countries within a political
boundary. The south of India is entirely different than the
north. The same goes for the east and west. If you don’t like
the place you’re in, just get on a train for a day or two and
you’ll be in a completely different world.
One of the biggest traveler complaints about India is the
poverty. In truth, it is bad. There is simply no way around the
fact. Whatever you have previously seen, wherever you have
previously gone, nothing matches the poverty in India. The
shanty towns are large cities and the conditions are less than
ideal. To get a first hand account, I suggest you read the
excellent book, “Shantaram”, by Gregory David Roberts. Roberts
lived in one of the shanty towns for years while on the run from
the law. The book is tremendous and gives you a different
perspective on the poverty situation. Regardless, you will have
problems dealing with the poverty in India. It can ruin your
trip if you’re not careful.
If you’re considering visiting India, you need to accept the
fact that life is different there and you need to come to grips
with this before you go. In truth, India is an incredibly
captivating country of beauty, stunning sites and incredibly
funny people.

Depending on where you start your journey, flights to Europe can actually be extremely cheap. Getting across the Atlantic doesn’t really cost as much as you might think as long as you are flying between busy airports on both ends. If you want to leave from, say, Galveston, Texas, it might cost a fortune, but if you leave from Houston it could be reasonably priced. The same is true on the other end. If you want to fly into some small town in Belgium it could cost a ton, but flying into nearby Amsterdam is often quite cheap.
The 5 busiest airports in Europe are:
London Heathrow - This is the busiest of 5 international airports in London, and usually the cheapest flight destination in Europe.
Paris Charles de Gaulle - The largest airport in France is easily the number two airport in Europe.
Frankfurt - The city itself is kind of boring, but this airport is a major hub and usually great for cheap flights.
Madrid - This one doesn’t get as much traffic from the United States as some others, but thanks to the Europeans themselves this one is very busy and good deals are possible.
Amsterdam - The airport itself is great, which is a good thing because so many people have long layovers here. If you have 4 or more hours between flights you can actually make it into the city and back during your layover.

Environmental engineering applies principles of mathematics and science to solve problems of the environment. Opportunities abound in environmental engineering in the many areas of environmental protection, including air pollution and toxic materials control, radiation protection, management of hazardous waste materials, water supply and wastewater management, public health, and land management.
Environmental engineering as a subject is as varied as are opportunities. An environmental engineer may be a designer, a researcher, pollution control operations technician, a professor, a planner, a government official, a manager, or a social worker. Employment may be found in a university, a private consulting firm, a research organization, a testing laboratory, a government agency, or any type of large or small business.
Environmental engineering requires at least a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, but more often a Masters Degree is expected. A Ph.D. in Engineering provides even more advantages to finding employment in the field.
Subjects of study to acquire a degree in environmental engineering include math, science, and engineering, and as environmental engineering professionals deal with people, studies in the humanities as well as strong skills in writing and speaking are important. Communications studies and a lot of practice are necessary for the environmental engineering professional.
